CJSA is a home from home organisation where senior members of the Jewish Community are welcomed into a warm, nurturing environment. Our four centres in Cape Town have highly trained Social workers in attendance so that we can be of assistance to members. We provide services and activities enabling our members to remain independent and as part of the community for as long as possible.
- Guest speakers address us on pertinent topics.
- Members have the opportunity to engage in a variety of stimulating activities such as bridge, kalooki, Yiddish, crafts and different forms of entertainment.
- Outings and our much sought after annual midweek getaway to a spa resort.
- Our members are also encouraged to remain active by participating in regular gym, yoga and dancing exercises provided by volunteers who are experts in their field.
- Nourishing Sunday lunches and snacks are prepared, giving members the opportunity to get out of their homes, socialise and meet with friends.
- Counselling or special advice and referrals when the need arises.
- Home visits are seen to when a member is house bound.
- We rely on volunteers in the community to befriend the sick and house bound, often forming warm and caring friendships.
- Trained volunteers assist with essential services which include befriending the sick and house bound, administrative assistance in our offices and assist with catering.
- Our Lifestyle Club hosts stimulating entertainment evenings, outings and guest speakers of note to members of the community who are still active, but enjoy having activities arranged for them in the early evening.
