Shifra says Sorry! Big apologies for being off line for so long. However I am back, and here to update you with the very exciting news from Jewish Care Cape. Jewish Care Cape has moved into JCC House at 234 Upper Buitenkant Street, Highlands Estate. Our phone number is 021 4625520 JCC House incorporates, Jewish Community Services, Nechama and Oranjia. After a fantastic renovation on the lower part of Highlands House designed and supervised by Ben Kotlovitz with input from Philip Todres and Paul Berman, we now boast a new working environment that unifies and brings four welfare organisations into close quarters with one another, offering in time, opportunities to work more rationally in a socially integrated way.

We are most fortunate to be cared for whilst caring for our community which is the focus of our work. The new JCC House houses a team of 25 staff members all concerned with the wellbeing and care of those in need in our community. We are closely connected and affiliated with all seven Jewish welfare organisations. This move to new premises generates the promotion of energy, fresh starts, and cohesivesiveness within the umbrella of JCC and can only benefit us all immensely. Come and visit! We welcome you!
Our first major event was our ‘mezuzah ceremony’, with a host of community members close to JCC’s heart, helping in saying the prayers and the putting up of the mezuzah’s on 25 office doors and gates. A memorable aspect to this event was that we invited the close family and friends of Joel Miller who used to reside in this space before his passing. We named our new boardroom the ‘Joel Miller Boardroom’ and had members of his family and friends attend and involved in putting up the plaque.
It was an emotional time for Joel’s family and was keenly felt by everyone there.
