Welcome to 2014! At the end of last year there was a flurry of activity! – see photos. For JCC, 2014 holds promise for more inclusive staff training with employees from diverse sectors of welfare being upskilled further. We again look forward to working with our Herzlia Student Jewish Care, our team of Health Care professionals and the Gender Violence and Abuse programme. We continue to coordinate and administer as the umbrella of Jewish Welfare in the Western Cape and always greatly appreciate the participation of the community in our Annual General Meeting which will be held at the beginning of September this year.
The end of 2013 was celebrated by staff members of JCC House with a sumptuous farewell lunch and we are most grateful to Jewish Care Cape for knowing how to care for its carers.

We requested from Giftime a series of Chanukah gifts that we could distribute to the Healthcare Professionals that have helped, supported and dedicatedly cared for clients of welfare in a probono capacity. We distributed these all over, to the doctors, secretaries and healthcare professionals who have been so committed to our clients for over 5 years now. The photos express their appreciation for these tiny tokens.

In December Rhita Russon (JCS) and myself facilitated Gender Violence and Abuse prevention workshops with the madrichim of three youth movements, Netzer, Habonim and Bnei Akiva. This was done in collaboration with the Board of Deputies campaign on “Gender-based violence and abuse campaign”. The feedback from the youth leaders was very positive and we look forward to facilitating more of these workshops during this year. We have two planned for February with Herzlia staff and CSO & EZRA staff.
